La mallette pédagogique, enseigner en contexte multilingue : un outil au service de l’autoformation des enseignants ?

Abstract : Today when both the diversity of pupils and parents’ cooperation are taken into account and become a professional absolute necessity for teachers (Official Bulletin of the French Ministry of Education dated July 22, 2010), so what do the latters really have at their disposal to help them acquire these competences? The authors are attempting to respond to this major question by using the results of a survey carried through a doctoral project among a sample of teachers who were asked to indicate what they perceived to be the ideal educational kit aimed at providing education in a multilingual environment. First, we present the theoretical framework of this actionoriented research targeting the development of social agents’ multilingual and pluricultural competence (Coste, Moore and Zarate, 1997,2009), by setting the stage for work on contextualized language didactics in a creolophone environment (Wharton, 2008). Then we discuss the issue of creating and disseminating an educational kit conceived on a partnership between the CASNAV and the CRDP of Reunion in order to meet the various needs of the interviewed teachers. With this contribution we hope to provide some possible answers to the crucial question of lack of educational equipment regarding linguistic and cultural diversity management in regular classrooms, a question implicitly related to the issue of teachers’ selfstudy.
