L'apport de la sociologie à l'analyse des invasions biologiques : retour d'expériences et pistes de recherche pour dépasser déceptions méthodologiques et irritation épistémologiques

Abstract : The contribution of sociology to biological invasions analysis: feedback from experiences and perspectives of research in order to overcome methodological disappointments and epistemological irritations.— From the scientific literature and from the research experiments conducted by the authors on the French Mediterranean coast, in the French departments of America and in Reunion Island, this article offers a reflexive report on the role of Human and Social Sciences (SHS) in general and of sociology in particular in the analysis of Biological Invasions (INVABIO). It is proposing a critical reading of interdisciplinary wars and peace that went along with the issue of INVABIO during the recent decades. It focuses on the one hand on the satisfactions and the disappointments, and on the other hand, on the methodological dialogues and epistemological tensions. This feedback allows formulating concrete proposals for conducting interdisciplinary research combining SV and SHS. From a brief historical of the collaborations between SV and SHS and specifically related to INVABIO problematic, the article analyses the main causes of misunderstanding between researchers: first the evils of words, then the status of the production of knowledge, and then the exogenous and endogenous issues of the scientific practice and at last the definition of collaboration modes. For every point this article raises, proposals are made to improve the dialogue SV/ SHS, not in the purpose of an illusory consensus but for a heuristic explanation of our differences.
