Compréhension des énoncés de problèmes arithmétiques complexes et catégorisation

Abstract : Describe the 9-10 years old children’s cognitive processes as they solve complex arithmetic word problems is the purpose of the present study. The Construction-Integration modele of Kintsch (1988) is the starting point. We reporte evidence that categorization processes play a crucial role to choose a correct procedure beyond narrative text comprehension skills and simple arithmetic word problem solving skills. The favourite procedure chosen in Reunion Island is the one that items are treated seperately.
