Parler donc

Abstract : I recall the exhibition I once organized in Monthermé junior high-school, Ardennes, in a suitable classroom. It was part of my training in order to obtain tenure a trainee art teacher mot only had to submit to the traditional inspection followed by an interview, but also present a dissertation on his subject coupled with a plastic production of his own. I have always borne in mind the obligation for an art teacher to be a plastic art teacher. I regularly organized exhibitions of my own creations wherever I worked. The idea, at the Reunion IUF, of publishing an “Expressions” issue on art and its teaching, on the artistic or pedagogic experiments of various art participants in either primary schools or junior high-schools, has prompted me to talk about a period in an art teacher’s life at the IUFM. This period deals with my relation to the world of arts and my query about such a relation and its implications. It is all about the genesis of a creation, its impact on both in-service training teachers and children supervised by a trainee teacher, as much as it is about the absolute need for me to write about such an experience subsequently.
