Abstract : This paper develops the concepts of interaction-based approach and of real life tasks. On the basis of research results, published in recent years, we show the potential of this kind of tasks as a solution for various limitations that researchers have identified in a traditional language learning environment such as the fact that students often pay more attention to form than to communication and action. The theoretical part is illustrated by practical examples of real-life tasks using the potential of web 2.0 and allowing students to use the language within social interactions that go beyond the traditional classroom interactions.
