Les habitudes des étudiants comme obstacle à la formation en ligne ? Entre réalité et projection des enseignants

Abstract : The increasing student mobility and the internationalisation of e-learning in recent decades have brought the need to take cultural differences into account to the forefront. Can the learning culture of learners be a barrier to learning? This is one of the questions we asked in a doctoral PhD research project research which analysed the decline of an online French teaching-learning programme and its shift towards a face-to-face course model. Since the French language programme was largely introduced and supported (in terms of its design and implementation) by French authorities in a Tanzanian educational context, the aim was to examine the extent to which the learning habits of Tanzanian students might diverge from the teaching-learning modalities provided in the online distance French programme. The analysis of the surveys conducted among teachers and students of French as a foreign language has led to the following result: if student habits persist, they are not in contradiction with the learning modalities provided by the online French training. The analysis reveals that it is rather the personal learning experiences of the teachers projected onto those of the students that tend to impact the initial organization of the French course.
