This course will focus on those elements of mathematical activity that are not solely inscribed in language, whether written or oral. We will describe the non-textual material supports on which mathematical activity and thoughts are deployed: artefacts, geometric models, calculating and drawing instruments, gestures that accompany the manufacture and use of these instruments, gestures that more generally make it possible to produce craft or artistic objects with algorithmic or geometric structures.
