Ethnicity and social policy in multiracial mauritius

Abstract : This paper describes the terms of ethnicity, race and nationality and applies them to the Mauritian context. As a small multi racial island economy, government policies to manage the economy have been important in ensuing peace between the different communities while leaving the economy open for the development of a vibrant private sector. Important factors which have contributed to this development have been highlighted.
