Désir et ethnicité ou la littérature comme exutoire

Abstract : The concept of interethnic relations is very much alive in Mauritius because it is simply everywhere. However, behind the numerous ways in which tolerance is preached, exists a system that limits interethnic relations to a theoretical space. Because of the contamination that exists in the society, one of the only ways to study how the different races really interact is by examining the notion of desire. In this particular context, literature is transformed into a fantasmatic outlet through which Mauritians conceive relations that cannot exist in real life.
