Have patients become impatient to act in our healthcare system?
Les « patients » sont-ils devenus « impatients » d'agir dans nos systèmes de santé ?
Résumé
For some 40 years now, in France, the progressive recognition of the knowledge and experience of patients has been accompanied by an institutionalization of their participation and a diversification of the spaces in which they act. In this contribution, we offer an analytic look at the different forms of patient participation in the health world, in France and abroad. This non exhaustive overview underlines the need to pay particular attention to the conditions required if the shared experiences of care providers and patients are to serve as an occasion to optimize and revitalize the approach to medical care.
Depuis une quarantaine d’années en France, la reconnaissance progressive des savoirs et des expériences des personnes malades s’accompagne d’une institutionnalisation de leurs interventions et d’une diversification des espaces dans lesquels les « patients » agissent. Dans cette contribution, nous proposons un regard analytique sur différentes formes de participation des « patients » au monde de la santé, en France et à l’étranger. Ce tour d’horizon non exhaustif souligne la nécessité de porter une attention particulière aux conditions à réunir pour que les expériences partagées par les soignants et les personnes malades soient l’occasion d’optimiser et de renouveler l’approche des soins.
