La migration des Réunionnais dans l'Empire et la doctrine de la 'plus grande France' sous la Troisième République

Abstract : The migration and the settlement of Reunionese in the various colonies of the Empire under the Third Republic is partly responsible for the development of the myth of ‘‘Greater France’’. It is true that both social and economic considerations greatly influence the candidates for exile, nevertheless, ideological motivations (ie. the civilizing mission of the colonial settlement) are all pervading. Through this, Reunionese claim recognition of their specificity while reiterating their commitment to the national community.
