Twenty years after gaining independence, Namibia is still burdened by the legacy of a century of domination, first under German imperialism and later under the apartheid regime imposed by the next colonial power, South Africa. The current socioeconomic changes are very slow. In fact few changes have occurred so far in this transition period. Continuity seems to be the watchword of the transition.
Vingt ans après son accession à l’indépendance, la Namibie peine à se défaire du legs d’un siècle de domination, marquée successivement par l’impérialisme allemand et par le régime d’apartheid imposé par le colonisateur sud-africain. Les mutations socio-économiques en cours ne s’opèrent que très lentement. En réalité il y a eu peu de changements au cours de cette période transitoire. La continuité semble ici le maître mot de la transition.
