Réalités et singularités du tourisme réunionnais : entre utopie et motifs d'espoir

Fabrice Folio 1
Abstract : Tourist potentialities of Reunion Island are diversified and, relating to the prevailing view, favourable to the intense spectacle. Yet, in a tourist planning perspective, in line with the socio-economical stakes of the island, they seems to be underestimated, as the recent tourist conference held in 2008 indicated. Considering the opening-up of the island, its quality of services as well as the local synergy, one could observe a kind of hiatus. If many people gradually consider that Reunion Island is stammering its tourism activity, the new opportunity is that local and national political stakeholders, as well as the people working in the tourist industry, become aware of the problem. A plan of stimulation of the tourist sector takes place nowadays. It tries to combine the different local sensibilities. To reach an effective politic of tourism, Reunion Island needs to conserve its authenticity, mobilize and unify its actors and embarks itself in an integrated and controlled investment.
