L’interruption Volontaire de Grossesse entre 9 et 12 semaines d’aménorrhée par Méthode Médicamenteuse à la Réunion : population, succès, complications et prévention

Abstract : Background : The main objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness, side effects and tolerance of medical abortion between 9 and 12 weeks of gestation at Felix Guyon University Hospital. Method : Single-center retrospective cohort study of 221 patients who underwent medicated abortion between 9 and 12 weeks of gestation. Result : A total of 91% of patients aborted completely without surgical treatment. In our cohort, 23 (10.4%) patients had significant side effect. In our population, 55 (24.8%) patients experienced pain with a VAS (Visual analogue Scale) between 7/10 and 10/10. Conclusion : Medical abortion between 9- and 12-weeks’ gestation is an effective and tolerable method. Further studies are needed to improve pain management.
