Nonlinear Analysis of AV3860C Microwave Power Amplifier for 2.4 GHz Wireless Communication
Abstract
Due to the increase of communication channel, today, the wireless transceiver (TxRx) system suffers of signal distortion due to the active component nonlinearity. Therefore, experimental investigation was performed thanks to our research project on the test of microwave active component nonlinear (NL) characteristics. A TxRx test bench of microwave power amplifier (MPA) input and output performance measurement is presented. This test bench uses the AV3860C MPA with the output power of over 29 dBm operating in 0.8 GHz~20 GHz. The input level is limited to 10 dBm or ±10 V. The AV3860C MPA measurement setup includes signal generator (SG), MPA, attenuator and EMI receiver (Rx). The measurement of losses is assessed with attenuator and coaxial line connections. The MPA nonlinear (NL) measurement is carried out by adjustment of the signal generator output power from -30 dBm to 10 dBm. The MPA NL characteristics are assessed from the MPA gain, P1dB compression point and efficiency by plotting the input-output. Then, as NL model, the memory input-output polynomial by means of least mean square fitting method of the AV3860C MPA is proposed by using the experimented data.
