Éveil aux langues en maternelle : mise en place d'un dispositif destiné à travailler la conscience langagière chez des élèves de grande section

Abstract : This master’s thesis presents a project conducted in a preschool multilingual class in Grenoble with the aim of developing language awareness among five-year-old pupils. Activities, inspired by the Swiss program EOLE, were set up in order to develop linguistic knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes to diverse languages. This report presents how these linguistic activities, based on family’s languages, as now recommended in the curriculum, can contribute to developing language awareness and to building the children’s multilingual repertoire. The research will also explore how relevant and beneficial it is to use foreign words to improve children’s phonetic awareness, which is necessary to start reading. Findings will expose how the educational team perceives the place of linguistic diversity in the classroom.
