CROWN -Final Results on a European Multifunction AESA System Demonstrator

Résultats finaux du démonstrateur européen AESA multifonction CROWN

Résumé

In the project European active electronically scanned array with Combined Radar, Electronic Warfare (EW) and Communications (COMMs) functions for military applications,

called CROWN, a small-scaled ultra-wideband (UWB) multifunctional system based on digital AESA architecture with capability of operating from 2 GHz to 18 GHz has been designed, simulated, manufactured, and tested. At the level of system, study, simulation, manufacturing and testing of (1) broadband antennas (2) advanced wideband digital beamforming (DBF) implemented in new devices (RFSoCs), (3) resource management (RSM) for interoperability improvement and (4) TRC modules for lab demonstrator have been addressed. At a Component-level, critical RF components for broadband, high-power RF, and tunable Tx/Rx modules have been designed, simulated, manufactured, and tested. Finally, a system modelling and simulation has been developed to validate architecture and performance.
